SportsAble is a leading multi-disability, multi-sport charity based in Maidenhead. We have ambitious plans to extend the amount of playing space available for disability sport at the centre as well as increasing the number of sports available to people with a disability. We can’t achieve these dreams without the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
We are currently recruiting volunteers in the following fields:
As a voluntary, charitable organization without the help of any central support, funding is entirely through our own efforts and remains our biggest issue. We need lively, creative energetic individuals to sit on our Fundraising Committee or to work as part of a small project team. Previous experience of fundraising for a charity would be ideal but not essential. We believe in having fun whilst fundraising so if you enjoy having fun and raising money for a great cause then this role could be for you.
We have a large base of members – disabled, their families and supporters as well as our volunteers – who enjoy a range of social activities. We are seeking to revive our Social Committee to undertake the organizing role and need like-minded, creative and energetic people to join this group.
We are very fortunate to have a large airy lounge bar at our sports centre which is open typically 7 days a week. It is manned by a team of volunteer bar staff supported by our part-time Facilities Management team. We are seeking people, ideally with bar working experience but training will be provided if needed, to supplement this group.
Transport – Minibus/Van Drivers
Transport is a very important aspect of our operations as well as for the mobility of our disabled members and their sports equipment. We have the use of our own minibus as well as third party transport. We are seeking to add to our group of volunteer drivers – appropriate training will be provided as needed.
Sport and Recreation
Sport and recreation for our members is what we do. We have a wonderful team of Sports Development Officers, coaches, helpers – many of them disabled themselves – who run our many and varied sports activities, week in, week out. As well as running sports sessions at our sports centre we have a very busy Outreach Programme where we visit schools, hospitals and other centres where we introduce disabled people to sport. We urgently need energetic, sport-loving individuals to join our sports support team.
