Asghar Majeed – Chairman of SportsAble

At the end of last year, Asghar Majeed was appointed as SportsAble’s new Chairman. Asghar succeeded Vivienne Davies who remains very involved with the Club.

Even before joining SportsAble, Asghar had been a familiar face around the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. In 2011, he was elected to serve as Mayor of the Borough and held this position until 2012.

It was during his term as Mayor that Asghar first connected with SportsAble. He was instrumental in building a relationship between the Club and Harrods, the Knightsbridge retailer. This connection resulted in a successful bucket collection held at the Knightsbridge store which raised valuable fund for the Charity.

During his career, Asghar has worked in the area of IT. His client portfolio is impressive and includes organisations such as the BBC and UK Passport Agency.

Before coming to Maidenhead, Asghar had been raised in Yorkshire from birth. He attended school in Greenhead and later graduated from Huddersfield University with a Finance and Computing. Asghar first moved to the Borough 20 years ago when he became a widower and a single parent of three sons.

Now that Asghar is at the helm of SportsAble, he is going to work alongside the team to ensure the Club continues to deliver its unique provision of sports, physical activity and social events. Asghar wants the club to succeed at changing the lives of members, their families and friends; enabling them to thrive and feel part of the SportsAble family.
