Berkshire Community Fund Supports SportsAble with Significant Donation

SportsAble has been granted £10,ooo from the Berkshire Community Fund (BCF), helping the charity to respond to its immediate financial needs following the devastating impact of Covid-19.

John Jenkins MBE, SportsAble’s President said: “Many of our members, staff and volunteers are disabled or shielding themselves, so we had to remain closed during both of the lockdowns. Our close is having a significant impact on our members, some of whom have experienced a deterioration in health because of their inability to get out and be active.

“This generous donation bythe BCF helps us to re-strategise and re-open with a scaled-down version of our weekly timetable so that members can enjoy all the benefits of being out and active, as well as connected to others. To meet the needs of those members who are still self-isolating, we are starting a new series of Zoom fitness classes that can be completed at home. We desperately needed this funding lifeline to give us the financial confidence to reopen and help us through the next three months.  However, to remain open, we continue our quest to raise vital funds.”
