Calling All Superheroes!!
17 August 2019 You can do it!
The popular Superheroes Tri Series is back again this year on Saturday 17 August at Dorney Lake, Windsor, and everyone is welcomed to join in.
The Superheroes Tri Series is the UK’s one and only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero! The idea behind the competition is simple; to create fun, full-throttle challenges where people with disabilities call the shots and don’t have to worry about cut-off times or equipment restrictions.
Last year, SportsAble entered a few teams into the event and raised an incredible £2,195 for the charity at the same time. Maybe we can beat that fundraising total this year?
Even if you are not competing, it is a great day out for everyone and the competitors welcome the support. There are also lots of stalls to browse around and a chance to learn about other organisations from the world of disability.
There are three unique challenges to choose from and three very different ways to take part. You can fly solo, unite with family and friends for the team relays, or tow your Superhero around the entire course in a world first Sidekick Tris. The only stipulation is that at least one member of the team has a disability.
Here are the different ways to compete:
1. Team Up
For those who like to roll with a crew, this lets you unite with family and friends to do a stage each. Anyone can enter as long as at least one person on the team considers themselves to have a disability. Read the full details here.
2. Grab a Sidekick
This race is a unique chance to power your Superhero around the entire course! Prepare to tow them in the water and pull and push them around the bike and push/run sections. You can both be sure of a hero’s welcome when you cross the finish line. Read the full details here
3. Fly solo
This is perfect for those who want to see the mission through from start to finish. But ‘flying solo’ doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone. Every Superhero is welcome to bring a trusty Sidekick to accompany them for one or more of the tri stages if they wish. Read the full details here
There are still a few months to go until the event, so there is plenty of time for training. If you are interested in taking part in the event, please email email@example.com to register your interest.
