Peter Tichbon Joins Board of Trustees

SportsAble has strengthened its Board of Trustees with the appointment of Peter Tichbon, the Principal Consultant at PennSource Partnership; a consultancy that deals with all aspects of business management from change to logistics, strategy development, operations and post-acquisition integration.

Peter moved to the UK from Australia in 1990 and has spent the past 30 years predominantly working in the food industry. This has included 10 years at Coca-Cola Enterprises in senior roles and 5 years at Kingsmill owner Allied Bakeries in Maidenhead at director level.

Before becoming a self-employed consultant and interim, Peter spent 3 years as Managing Director of a food ingredients business leading turnaround and mergers. Recent projects include interim CEO of a confectionery wholesaler, interim Commercial Director at Big Bear Confectionery (Fox’s Glacier Mints, Poppets etc.) and leading a turnaround at a water services business.

Following a number of years gaining experience in leadership and CEO positions, both executive and non-executive board experience, plus having worked worked at management level in sales and marketing, logistics, engineering and change roles; Peter will bring a variety of cross-functional skills and knowledge to support SportsAble and the board from a corporate point of view.

Peter is also a very keen sportsman having played county equivalent tennis in Australia, outdoor cricket to Surrey Championships level and national league indoor cricket. He has also played club level baseball, mixed indoor netball, basketball and squash and won the company’s National Korfball Championships! Add to this various coaching qualifications, including FA, it is easy to see how Peter’s love of sport and passion for helping others to enjoy it too, plus his work-related skills, will help SportsAble become an even greater success.

Speaking of his appointment, Peter says, “The charity has been a great success for so many years, and of course I want to do whatever I can to help it continue to prosper and grow. Over time it would be great to see the charity offer more sports to even more people, whilst seeing even more success at national and international level amongst its sportspeople.”

Peter is married with two sons who are also very keen sportsmen.
