SportsAble Delivers Sport at Berkshire School Games

The SportsAble sports development team delivered Boccia and Polybat at this year’s Berkshire School Games Winter Games, which took place on March 27th at Bisham Abbey and was organised by Get Berkshire Active .

Cippenham Primary School (pictured above) and Edgbarrow School, Bracknell, took the Boccia titles for primary and secondary schools, while Thames Valley School, Reading, won the Polybat competition.

Polybat and Boccia enables children with disabilities to enjoy competing in sport. Boccia in particular is suitable for pupils from both mainstream and special schools, and creates a fully inclusive opportunity for the children to play sport together.

Besides delivering the sports session, SportsAble also trained some of Get Berkshire Active’s young leaders in the rules of Boccia and Polybat, so they could assist with officiating competitions on the day.

Delivering inclusive sports opportunities to children in schools is part of SportsAble’s commitment to outreach. If you would be interested in finding out more, please email sportsdevelopmentofficers@sportsable.co.uk.
