SportsAble Junior Section Launches

It has been a fantastic start to the new SportsAble Junior section this month (April), with children and their families having fun playing sport and games altogether at our Sunday sessions.

So far, children and their families have had a taste of wheelchair basketball, table tennis and Boccia, plus we have made full use of the dry weather by setting-up the short tennis and athletics equipment outside.

The sessions are also providing a wonderful opportunity for families to relax and socialise together because the bar is open throughout, serving refreshments, while our widescreen TVs are broadcasting sport.

Niall McCaffrey, SportsAble’s sport manager said, “It has been a great start to the new Junior section and both the children and their families have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It is providing everyone with an opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of sport together in an inclusive environment.”

SportsAble Junior will be running every Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm and everyone is welcome, including siblings and carers. Each session includes an opportunity to try one of our sports, followed by some fun and games.

The launch of SportsAble’s Junior section has been made possible by a generous £55,000 donation from Persimmon Homes as part of its Healthy Communities initiative.  The junior section is for children under the age of 18 and is open to all members.

For a limited time, there are some free taster sessions available for anyone who is not a member of SportsAble but would like to come along. If you are interested in attending, please contact or call on 01628 627690.
